At Coastal Defenders, we take a holistic approach to protecting the planet for the next seven generations. We recognize that the health of the planet is interconnected with the health of society and the economy. Therefore, we work to promote solutions that address environmental, social and economic challenges simultaneously.

Since our founding in 2020, Coastal Defenders has made a significant impact on environmental policy and practice through the advocacy of a decolonized approach in the protection of our planet and most vulnerable.

In 2023 we meaningfully engaged with over 1300 BIPOC folks in environmental, social + restorative justice initiatives in our bi-coastal work on unceded Kumeyaay, Payómkawichum, Nanticoke + Lenni Lenape land + waterways.

We acknowledge that we occupy, reside and work on unceded Kumeyaay, Payómkawichum, Nanticoke + Lenni Lenape land + waterways. We respect the people of these nations as the rightful stewards of their territories by refuting colonization, recognizing the genocide committed by the United States, fighting against the systemic racism that remains pervasive in our society and supporting Indigenous resurgence.
